This site explains how to modify NDS1.7 times speed.
NDS can be modified 1.7 times speed.It's useful times faster long RPG & game.

Open DS,guarantee lose!
WARNING: If you want to break DS,do it!

You can now modify NDS only by opening the back panel.

Break up NDS (Ｙ type driver・＋ type driver）
↓
Pull up NDS cartridge slot(with solder)
↓
Solder.
↓
Install switch and cable to the back panel.
↓
Connect the back panel to NDS body to test
↓
If it's done succeed, restore your NDS.
↓
Finish! You can enjoy X1.7 speed

Because of NDS has individual variation the speed can be from almost X1.4-X1.7

First,we need some tools for mods.
You can buy them at electoronics shop.

soldering iron generally 30W,fine point
solder fine solder
+ screwdriver fine point
Y screwdriver You can buy at homecenter.Fine point.

Parts list

Cable fine line
ceramics oscillator 24MHz
screw change Y to +. It is easy to open!
switch small type
double-faced adhesive This is necessary to fix the switch.Choose thick type.
sponge Protect sensitive solder point.



Break up NDS!
Let's started.Before hand you maust release static electricity, by touching a big metal object.


Remove the back panel.Do not touch other parts.With no hidden screws.


Here you are.This time,you need not break up more.
Caution:If you remove any film cable from the connector,your NDS may not activate.
Do not toutch any film cable.

Life cartridge slot up.
The wiring point to be aimed at in under the cartridge slot.
As the cartridge slot is soldered at 4 points of the base.It'sis a little hard to remove.

Melt a little of each parts and lift up slowly.
If you do it too hastily,base board will break.
Use more solder and melt slowly.


It is remove well.Although this photo shows that the cartridge slot is broken up ,do not break it up.


Soldering point.
Do a good jpb.

This part need be soldered.


Put the wire and solder caution.
If you pull it too strongly,pattern will come off.

Redo and finish solder!

NDS has a little free space in the back panel.
Put ceramics oscillator into this space.

There are two types of oscillators,crystal,and ceramic ones.
You can use both of them.But metal type is too big.
You need buy several of oscillators with various freguencies and test.



Make a hole for a switch.
Use micro drill to make a square hole.Rasp to finish.


Connect the switch with ceramic oscillator.This time 24MHz is used.




Check the system


Connect the wire with the main board.
Turn switch bofore NDS move.
Change speed? OK!

Shut back panel

Use sponge and paper for soft fix.


Shut back panel.Slowly,slowly,slowly!
